My bedtime book is currently Emile Zola-The Masterpiece.

I have trouble with modern writers apart from John Updike.
This much I have in common with Carl.

When I read I want to abandon myself to the fantasy the writer spins for me.
Isn't chick lit always about shopping & guys& OMG!!!! ??

I want gas lamps, bustles, stolen kisses and an unguessable ending.

I'm reading a collection of Graham Greene short stories, he's my favourite author atm. Going to start the Wasp Factory next I think

me to, someone had a go at me yesterday for saying that, i have just finished reading a picture of dorian gray and im reading the odyssey at present

I've just read to taken a class on Victorian to Modern Literature, and i concur that modern literature isn't my favorite, but some aspects i love. My favorite was To the Lighthouse by Virgina Woolf. I really like the stream of conciousness. There is something very magical about being in other people's heads.

I love Dickens. Not very fashionable but my God! The stories are so brilliant. My favourite is 'Barnaby Rudge' and in close second is 'David Copperfield.' I'm also a bit mad for Tolstoy.

When it comes to modern authors, I love the visceral creep of Brett Easton Ellis and the yarns of Armistead Maupin.

I've been writing something for far too long. I could do with a bit of moral support along the lines of 'stop squeeing over Peter/Carl and get on with it, you ridiculous woman!'

I haven't really got around to Dickens yet but I will. I live near the real Bleak House.

Finished Zola and on to Russel Brands' My Booky Wook. He makes me laugh but somehow I'm not getting it from the book.

Booky Wook is still a bit dull.
Finshed Frey which was amazing-has kick started a small obsession with Palm Springs and especially the Palm Springs mountain tramway which he helped design the terminal for....
